About St. Bakhita Catholic Worker House

We are named in honor of the patron saint, St. Josephine Bakhita, of those who are trafficked and whose story inspires us to faithfully struggle until all people enjoy true freedom.

St. Bakhita Catholic Worker House is a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of faith and compassion. Named after St. Josephine Bakhita, our community is dedicated to upholding Dorothy Day’s and the Catholic Worker Movement’s inspiring legacy by striving to live out the Beatitudes. These teachings are not merely spiritual ideals but a roadmap for our daily lives and community practice.

In partnership with the Franciscan Peacemakers Clare Community, we provide more than just housing; we offer a community of support, healing, and empowerment for women survivors of sexual exploitation.

St. Bakhita Catholic Worker House is overseen by a dedicated board of directors responsible for setting our goals, managing financial affairs, and ensuring the quality of our programs. Our Executive Director, an ardent advocate for social justice, resides at the facility to lead our educational and community-building initiatives directly.

Volunteers play a crucial role in our mission, offering their time, talents, and hearts in service to others. We invite you to join us in this journey, whether through prayer, service, or support, as we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the women we serve and the greater community.
