PEACE OF OUR MINDS | Bakhita House

Sacred Mealtimes

Mealtimes are sacred for many reasons. Besides nourishing us, they bring us together into a space that allows us to share everything from the day’s happenings to the big feelings that sometime only find peace in the company of those who care about you.

Our community meals take place every Monday night at Bakhita House. It is a beautiful time that allows us to connect and share in ways that other settings would never allow. At mealtime we plan our outings, share news about family and friends, discuss our individual and collective futures, or simply talk about our chores. And then, there are those days when discussions run dry and patience is short. And these moments remind us just how comfortable and safe we feel with one another.

For over two years we have been deeply blessed to be the recipient of meals provided for us through the wonderful generosity of families from St. Dominic’s Parish in Brookfield. I share this with you because many people have asked what they can do to help us out here at Bakhita House. Perhaps this type of meal ministry would be something you would be interested in?

If you would like to help us out with our Monday night meals please visit the Bakhita House link on Meal Train at: https://mealtrain.com/g913nm. It would be a deeply appreciated blessing! We have faith that “God will provide for all that we need here at the table of plenty”.

Wishing you blessings on your Lenten journey.
