Greetings Friends of St. Bakhita Catholic Worker!
We are so excited to offer a few invitations to you over the next month. We hope you can join us for one or all of the following events.
First, On May 25th at 7pm at Mo’s . . . A Place for Steak, I am blessed to be presenting at Eat Drink and Be Catholic on the theme “Vulnerability and Failure as a Path to God”. Come learn more about Dorothy Day, St. Bakhita and the journey to St. Bakhita House during this presentation sponsored by the Family of Four Parishes. Second, we would also like to invite you to join the St. Bakhita Catholic Worker Team in the Capuchin Walk for the Hungry “Live” – 2022. Or, if you cannot walk, please consider contributing to our fundraising efforts for the Capuchin Franciscans and all the good work they to walk with those in poverty and on the margins. We are especially grateful to them for donating their beautiful friary to us for our new Catholic Worker House. Kindly click the link below if you are interested:
Third, we invite you to visit our website on June 1st and beyond for sign-up volunteer opportunities. We are finally able to move in!!!! There will be work to do to get the house ready to host women survivors of sexual exploitation in partnership with the Franciscan Peacemakers Clare Community. We are also readying the house to host educational events, roundtable discussions, retreats, prayer opportunities, and community building gatherings.
Finally, I would like to invite you to pray for an end to all the violence we see all around us. Christ clearly called us to be peacemakers. May our actions and our prayers reflect this Gospel mandate to love one another no matter the cost.
