Greetings Friends,
One of our community of survivors told me that she would be sleeping on the streets if not for having found shelter and community at St. Bakhita House. And thanks to the wonderful efforts of the Franciscan Peacemakers she is receiving the supportive services she needs. This is first and foremost why we exist. In the words of Dorothy Day, “We have all known the long loneliness and we have learned that the only solution is love and that love comes with community.” We are so very grateful for our community of love!
And what a month! We have joyfully celebrated sobriety anniversaries, community meals, Bingo bashes and We also have been blessed to share our mission with the seniors of St. Dominic and members of the Ladies of Charity, hold a Saturday retreat for members of Holy Angles Parish, and we successfully launched our Dorothy Day Deep Dive book study. We have hosted students visits from Creighton and Divine Savior Holy Angels. And finally, our work was recognized by the Milwaukee Archdiocese and TMJ4 Positively Milwaukee. Whew!! God is good, indeed.
We are keenly aware that all of this is possible because of your prayers and support. We are so grateful and regularly hold you in prayer. As we make our way to All Saints Day we remember our universal call to holiness. Our community of survivors and our community of support reminds of this every single day.
Peace on earth,
Good Will to All,
