Greetings Friends,
Many Catholic Workers engage in what sometimes feels like endless discussions of what our foundress Dorothy Day would have said or done in a multitude of situations. I believe even our St. Bakhita Board lovingly winces a bit when I suggest that “this or that” isn’t “Catholic Workery”. You see, those who are part of the movement yearn to do things in the “Catholic Worker Tradition”. Yet, Dorothy was so nuanced that it is often hard to definitively claim what that tradition might entail. There are two things, however, that I am absolutely sure it involves– a deep faith and an uncompromising love of neighbor.
Hence, it is in this spirit of faith and love, that we ask you to be patient with what seems to have become one of our very own St. Bakhita Catholic Worker “traditions” . . . .rescheduling Open Houses! If you have been with us from the beginning of our journey, you know that house delays resulted in two open house reschedules last year. Now, we regret to inform you that due to a few momentary circumstances we are rescheduling our upcoming October 1st Open House. Please know that we look so very forward to welcoming you back into our community in late winter or early Spring. Stay tuned!
Thank you so much for your understanding and patience. I try hard to keep these updates down to once a month, but may slip in an extra one due to the need for this special announcement. Please check our website for the many exciting things that are coming up in our community!
In Faith and Love,
